Handy Preparation Guide

Here are some suggested ways you can prepare your horse for the water treadmill and combi floor and solarium.

  • Working with your horse so it is happy to stand in an enclosed space.
  • Handling your horse from both sides.
  • Walking and standing your horse in water.
  • Cross tie experience (we use in the washbay and combi floor area).
  • Ensure your horse has experience of hosing legs and sprays.

Ideas

  • Practice asking your horse to stand on a mat/different surface.
  • Walking between barriers with handlers on either side.

Inform the team if your horse has any fears so we can ensure that we can plan an introduction session to our facility that better suits its needs.

Please arrive with your horse clean and free from mud, dirt and pick hoofs out once you arrive.

Please ensure your horses tail is wrapped up in a tail bandage.

No overreach boots or training aides can be used on the treadmill.

Headcollar or bridle plus a lead rope
